Plein Air Tuesday - 6/11/24 - Heritage Museum

I arrived a little early but I wasn't the first one there.  I knew that Suzette would be there even earlier as she told me she was going to have to leave early but wanted to get in her playtime!

So, needless to say, she was there and already setup.

Suzette

Notice how the photos of the artists as they're painting in their spots tend to look like they're posed.  Well, they're NOT.  That's just the way we stand at our easels.  You can tell she got there EARLY though, you know why?  She's wearing a long sleeved shirt and long jeans, although that could've been a method of repelling bugs.  Trust me as the morning progressed, it did get a lot warmer and the bugs weren't too bad although there were a few buzz bys.  But everyone, very wisely, did seek spots in the shade.

The next person to arrive I was certain was Betty, and then I saw the hat and thought - Oh, I must be mistaken, that's not her.

Mysterious person

See what I mean -- that's not Betty's hat, hmm maybe when she get's closer I'll know for sure who it is, they did wave.

Betty

Oh look, it really is Betty -- she got a new hat.  Wow, doesn't take much to confuse me apparently.  Or maybe it's just because I pointed the hat out last week and I knew this wasn't that one.

Next Mike arrived with all his stuff (there's probably a mug in there someplace).

Mike

And, while we were all busy putting pigment in some form on paper, look at who showed up and it wasn't Nita.  However, I'm starting to think this smiling face might have to start having a time stamp too -- I'll let it pass, For Now!

LeAnne

It was LeAnne and she found us without a problem as we were all pretty much in viewing distance of one another.

You already saw Suzette in her spot and my spot was utilizing that same tree for shade except I was further back.  Mike's spot was just off to my right side and behind me.

Mike in his spot

And, Betty's spot was on the other side of the barn but also in the shade.

Betty

There's Betty with the pretty new hat.  I know it looks like she's measuring something, but she was actually trying to get her lead pencil to drop some lead so she could draw.

Now for LeAnne and her spot, welllll, it might REALLY look like she's posing for this one.  Guess, that's because she was.  I never got a picture of her in her spot.  So, when all was said and done I asked her to go stand in it.

LeAnne in her spot!

She looked for shade and found quite a bit of it.  Her view was the photo that's up at the top of this post.  So, it was a pretty ideal spot.

As I mentioned, Suzette had to leave early, so she didn't make it to the group photo.  However, her painting didn't want to miss a chance to be shown, especially since it was really worth seeing!  Needless to say, it made it to the gallery.

We did chat for a bit and decided on going someplace different next week.  Hence, this wasn't labeled "Day 1" as there won't be a Day 2 this time.  But, with that all decided we lined up in the shade of course -- those trees really did come in handy -- and smiled on 2!

Oh dear, looks like I got carried away.  Guess I just got so used to there being so many of us and having a long list under the photo.

Ok, so that's it for this week, hope more of you are able to join us next week.
