Don't you love the leaves on that branch in the middle of the water
(L to R) Dona, Jim, Pete
At this point you're saying -- well, I don't see Jim. But he's in the pic, let me show you.
Betty
Betty was already there and set up on the water's edge. So, she's standing there with her hand on her hip and a look that says, "where you guys been, I've been here a while". Guess she was just very eager to get back to plein air painting as she's been otherwise occupied for several weeks.
Nita
Wow, someone's been getting an early start, Nita's right on time. When I first looked at this photo I thought, oh she's holding a plant. 🙄 My mistake, that's just a little branch sticking up from the tree on the left. But, you see, I really wouldn't have been surprised, she's been known to carry rocks in her pockets because she needs "models" to paint, so a branch isn't too far off.
Sophie
Yes, the Wanderer has returned. Sophie wandered pretty far this time and for a long period of time too - she went all the way to the other side of the world - wanted to see some Kangaroos among other things. Oh dear, that triggered a song in my head ... "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" by Rolf Harris (1960) --
Final Verse:
Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred Tan me hide when I'm dead So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde And that's it hanging on the shed All together now!
(Final Chorus – often sung slower or with a fade) Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down
SOOOO, did you all sing along? I know I did because the song is still stuck in my head. And, just when was the last time you heard that song??
Ok, back to our artists. Here comes another one.
Yes, another great photo taken by "Yours Truly"!
Let's see if I can put a head on the lady in green.
Nori
Yes, that one is much better. Now we can see her pretty face and actually tell who it is!
Artists all wandered off to various spots. Here's Sophie heading on down the narrow path through the grass and passing Nita as she goes.
In the distance, Sophie, in blue is Nita
To be honest, the only reason I knew that distant person was Sophie was because of the way she was carrying her paints.
Here's a closer picture of Nita's spot.
Nita
Notice how she's balancing one finished painting on a mound of grass. Oh, I just found another photo of her that shows who else was near by.
(L to R) Betty, Nori, Nita
I know, Betty's a bit hard to see, but if you were to scroll to the top where she's in a photo, you'll recognize what she's wearing. (And, you all thought I knew who these people were because I took the photos - nope, I have to usually stare at some of these photos a bit to see who's who - of course, the quality of the photos has nothing to do with that).
Speaking of Betty, here's a photo I must've taken at just about that same time, but closer up.
(L to R) Nori, Betty
And, not far from this group I found Mike.
Mike
Yes, once again, hidden in the weeds! There are still more spots to find. Whatever happened to Pete?
Pete
That guy needs a taller tripod! Of course, he's probably so used to standing that way to paint that he'd probably just not put it up higher anyway.
I had yet ANOTHER surprise when I went to find Dona.
(L to R) Kirsten, Dona
Yes, Kirsten has managed to make it 2 weeks in a row! I'm not sure how she snuck in past me, but I was completely surprised when I saw her down that path.
Back Row - Pete, Mike, Jim Middle Row - Kirsten, Dona, Nita, Betty, Sophie Front Row - Me, Nori (off to the right)
Till next time!!
