Plein Air Tuesday - Oak Creek Country Club Park - Day 1

First time ever at this location which meant some of you weren't quite sure where to find us.  But, once you got there, it became pretty obvious.

Pat

While I was the first one to arrive, Pat showed up soon after me.  I wasn't sure how many would be there as I had several cancellations the day before and that morning.  So, I was very happy to see someone arrive.  Next, Nori came walking over.

Nori

Then Tecla and Carolyn (yes, she's back from her big trip!!).  As you can see there is plenty of parking and  it's also super convenient as the park is right there on one side of the parking lot with the clubhouse on the other side (so easy access to facilities).

We all had a lot of questions for Carolyn about her trip and she had some good advice about taking workshops that involve more than one instructor too!

Well, as you can see Pat, Nori & Tecla got the memo on the color of the day (note Tecla's scarf).

As we were standing there chatting away, Big Red pulled in.

Big Red, Mike & Carolyn

As you can see, Big Red brought Mike along for company.

There are a couple of pavilions there, 2 are small and only have 1 picnic table and a 3rd which is quite large and has several picnic tables.  We all opted for the smaller ones as they not only provided shade but the better views.

Nori, Tecla

While Nori wasn't under the roof, she clearly was in the shade.  Tecla is in white and if you look close you'll see that Carolyn is on the other side of that table but seated.  My spot was right there next to Tecla.  Mike and Pat were behind us in the shade of the other small pavilion.

There's Pat using her viewfinder.  As you can see, the parking lot is right there -- very convenient.

Here's a closer pic of Tecla, leaning leisurely against the table as she paints.  You can also see a little bit of Carolyn on the other side and all my stuff in the front on the right.

Tecla

If you were to follow the shadow in the above pic over further, this is what you'd see.

Not long after we were situated, LeAnne showed up.

Smiling LeAnne

I can't remember if she shares that large jug of water with her watercolors, of if she just uses that for drinking.  But it certainly looks like enough to share with her paints.

Well, turns out we're not done yet.  Someone else is just showing up.

Dona (Nori in background)

That's right it's Dona who finally found us.  Oh, if you look in the background on the left near the parking lot, you can see the larger pavilion that has multiple picnic tables and LOTS of shade.

Here's the spot LeAnne found and you'll see one/two of the park visitors.  Caught her chatting with LeAnne for a bit.

LeAnne and park visitors

Speaking of visitors, this cheerful Mom with her baby stopped by to chat as well.  Turns out she's a photographer and her husband is also an artist whose medium is every medium of paint.

Visitor & Little one, Nori, Dona

Yes, that was Dona's spot, right near Nori, Tecla, Carolyn & I.

She spent quite a bit of time chatting with us and her baby was so incredibly good, didn't hear a peep out of him.  He was just happy to look around at all of us and listen to the conversation.  But, of course, she came there for a reason and before long it was off to the swings and other playground stuff.

Well, before we knew it, our time was up and with shadows having shifted considerably we decided to build our gallery.   Unfortunately, I didn't look at the one long photo while I was there and Nori's painting is sitting very much in the shade.  Thankfully, the paintings close ups show it off much better.

Don't worry, the close ups are much better, but this way you got to see the red horse 😊

So, we all ended the morning in the "Big Pavilion" where it was easy to build a gallery and for us to stand in the shade and smile on 2.

Front Row - Me

Turned out to be a good location with the intense heat, we all were able to find spots in the shade.  Till next week!
