Plein Air Tuesday - 3/11/25 - Yavapai Vista - Day 1

Hmm, gee I wonder if Elmer Fudd is here.  Hey Elmer, look out there, I see his ears.  Ok, so now that you all think I've lost it, on to what really happened.

I arrived at the same time these two arrived.  Guess it's not too obvious who they are, I could've taken a picture of anyone in the parking lot for what this tells you.

Jimmy and Dona

Alright, I'll tell you, but it's only because I know.  Behind the car is Jimmy, Dona's helper and that's Dona busy getting something out of the car.  Don't worry, you'll see what they really look like later.

I also pulled in at the same time David was exiting his car.  As usual, David is always very quick to set up -- he wants to make sure he gets every second possible spent painting.

David in his spot

This was just as you enter the trail as you can see the road right out there in front of him.  So, obviously, views are all over the place and you don't have to go far.

Here comes Dona and Jimmy -- once again, I could've taken a photo of anyone up there considering how unidentifiable they are, especially Jimmy.

Dona and Jimmy (the legs walking behind her)

I found my spot just around that bend -- it's really the first bend in the trail after THE bench where the top picture was taken.  So, it turned out that no one actually ventured on up to the vista this day.  Well, almost no one.

Ok, finally some pictures of people where you can actually see who they are.  Here's Betty as she just arrived.

Betty

Chris with a C and a pumpkin for a vehicle also joined us.

Chris

So, for those of you who don't know and in case I haven't mentioned this before, Chris is the short-timer in the group.  Yes, it won't be long before she says goodbye to Sedona to be able to spend more time with the grandkids in CA.  We sure are going to miss her, don't know how much she'll be able to join us between now and the big move since she'll be busy packing.

Oh, here comes Nita 2.

Nita 2

Here's my spot - look at that clean palette and white paper, obviously I didn't get started yet.  I think what I was really taking a picture of was the big rock with Chris in the background though.

My Spot and Chris behind the shrub

We're not done yet -- more artists to come.

LeAnne

There she is, "smiling LeAnne".  She ventured a little bit further up the hill.

I failed to mention earlier that I had heard from Suzette the night before.  Her plan was to do a hike and possibly find a spot.  But, no matter what, she was determined to get her hike in.

And, look who just arrived - Timestamp 9:44, it's Nita 1.

Nita 1

She actually just came up this way to say Hi!   She already had a spot picked out that was down below and to the right of the trailhead that takes you to where we were.

Betty in her spot

Betty picked a spot right behind me -- great painting she has going there!

Dona in her spot

Dona picked a spot off to my back left as did Nita 2 which was a shrub away from Dona.

I had to go searching for LeAnne, but I found her!

Jimmy took a hike.

When it was time to wrap things up our other hiker but also artist showed up.

(L to R) Suzette, Betty

Yes, Suzette really was there.  She went off and did the hike that continues on to the right of the vista, we've all seen it from afar but I personally haven't taken it.  As you can see she had her artists stuff on her back, so she took time out to do a sketch before heading back down to find us.

When we got back to THE Bench, I had to go find Nita 1, I forgot to take her picture though.  So, we can't see her spot.

Oh the reason for going back to the THE Bench -- to build our gallery, of course!

And... the closeups

Some good looking works of art, especially in a short 2 hour period.  No wonder everyone smiled on 2.

So I have to start in the front row (just to keep things in numerical order 😉
(L to R) Me, Nita 1, Chris, David, LeAnne
Back row (L to R) Nita 2, Suzette, Dona, Jimmy, Betty

Hope you understood that, with them being one behind the other, I had no choice!

Keep smiling everyone!
