Plein Air Tuesday - 12/10/24 - Red Rock Crossing - Day 2

It was a lonely day for painting -- apparently everyone was more concerned about getting ready to PARTY after painting!

But a few of us die hards made our way out in the cold (but just to start).  It did warm up as the sun was strong and quite nice!

I pulled into the parking lot at 9:30 with Betty & Bob pulling in right behind me.

Betty's bag - she's around here someplace

Got out of my car and I could hear Mike's voice in the distance but I couldn't figure out who he was talking to.

Mike talking to someone

Bob - Betty's passenger

I believe Bob is returning to the car after buying a pass -- Hey Bob, you know you can buy a "Senior Pass"

America the Beautiful  - National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Passes

https://store.usgs.gov/recreational-passes

It works at most of the places we paint at and a Senior Lifetime Pass only costs $80 -- believe it or not, I was lucky enough to have bought it when it cost $10 I think -- and no, it doesn't mean I'm 100 years old.  They just went from $10 straight to $80.

Ok, back to who it was Mike was talking to.  There she is, right in the Middle!

(L to R) Bob, NORI, Mike (ignore the butt in the back - we don't know them)

It was Nori doing her ballerina stance.  Oh, that reminds me of something else.  I learned this day that Bob is a Musician, all these great artists hiding other talents!

Nita1 had already informed me that she was going to wait for things to warm up just a bit and would be there by 10:15, hmmmm, we shall see.

So since this is one of the more familiar painting locations, we all just headed on down to find our place in the sun and out of the wind.

You saw Mike's spot at the top - yes, he was the lone painter in the picture.  Betty picked a spot that looked pretty darn close to her Day 1 spot.

Betty - different day, same spot

Nori's spot was just behind her and to the right and my spot was over to Nori's left.

(L to R) Betty, Nori

Look at the great painting Nori's doing -- sort of like a "sneak peek".   Here's a front view, except for Bob who was bending over.

So, you're probably wondering whatever happened to Nita1.  I'm sure you're not thinking that she was late, as we all know, she would NEVER do that.

She decided to draw up by the parking lot - Timestamp as you can all see:  10:51 -- oh she just got the numbers transposed 10:51  vs 10:15  -- isn't that funny~!  You see she wasn't really late, it was just a transposition 😉

Well, miss Timestamp transpositioner (ok I know it's not really a word) or in other words, Nita1, did venture down to where the rest of us were hanging out at just the right time.  After all she wanted to participate in the Gallery and photo taking.

(L to R) Nita (explaining something) & Nori (looking into the Sun)

Oh Bob had more than one spot, and this time he was sitting down.

Well, since we were all gathered now, it was time to set up a gallery.  We tried 2 places before we wound up at Old Faithful.  Oh, just a reminder before you scroll down after the group photo, keep reading!!!

And, even though we knew we'd be going off to a place where we'd be able to talk longer, everyone still hung out and chatted as well as spent time viewing the gallery.  But, then before long they realized it was time to gather and smile on 2!

Oh good heavens, I think we're in size order

So, painting done now it's time to PARTEEE!!  Let's head on over to the Sedona Golf Resort Juniper Bar & Grille and see if we can find the Non-Painting Artists 😊

As you may recall, two weeks ago I put out an email with a simple question - anyone interested in getting together for lunch??  Wasn't sure if anyone would be inclined.   The answer turned out to be a resounding "Yes".  Here are a few pictures of the 20 of us that participated in our First Plein Air Tuesday Lunch.

Oh this is a good one - people eyeing other peoples' plates -- hmmm, maybe I should've ordered that!

I know, a lot of pictures and I didn't even get everyone.  Instead, I took time to enjoy my food and the company.  Looks like I mostly took pics as their food arrived or when people were paying their bill.  However, it was really a lot of fun and so nice to be able to all just sit and chat and maybe even talk with some who we don't frequently see.

In case you were wondering, the food and service were both good and the setting very pretty.

We'll have to do lunch again sometime when it's warmer and we can sit outside on their patio.

So, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to All.  Stay safe and best wishes for the New Year!  We'll get together again for some Plein Air Tuesday fun in 2025!
